Pete SasQwax- Six Ton Armor Psychcast #27(2011)

(Via Pete SasQwax)-I've subtitled this mix 'Malapropriated PsycheDelia (& friends)' and 'Malapropriated PsycheDelia (& friends)' is the sound of two puns colliding head on. Or maybe it's more the sound of one pun rattling around in my brain for so long that I had to succumb and finally scratch that itch. Here's how it works: every drum sound throughout these thirty minutes is taken from Malcom Catto. Yep, Mal (and his 'Bubblefish Breaks' LP) has been apropriated (by me) - hence the first part. The PsycheDelia bit: SIXTONARMOR is a psychedelic mix series, right? Right. And Delia (& friends) were the source of musical sounds for the entirety of the piece. Delia who? Delia Derbyshire and her co-conspirators (friends) - otherwise known as the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Catto + BBC Radiophonic Workshop = this mix. Or it does when I do it.

Dj Pain-Remembering Tomorrow(2010)

Via Rhythym Incursions:

I’m very happy to welcome back DJ Pain to the Rhythm Incursions airwaves, in association with our good friends at Mondayjazz.

Regular listeners should be no stranger to Pain, who I believe holds the dubious title of most featured guest mixer by the way and is responsible for such mix gems as ‘Road To Oblivion’ and ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’. You can check all his past offerings here and ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ here (for some reason it’s not in our archive).

I hooked up with him a few months back when he came through town on a tour of Europe, and in between catching up and talking about life he mentioned a new mix he’d finished last year and which he wanted to get out. It was a no brainer for us, and we managed to also get the guys at Mondayjazz involved after they mentioned they were big fans as well.

So ladies and gentlemen here is the latest DJ Pain mix, Remembering Tomorrow a 70 mins psych rock trip assembled as only the man can with a plethora of spoken samples that weave a story as fascinating as the music. And before anyone asks there is no tracklist.

The show is available to download, and stream, here and on the Mondayjazz site. Remember the best way to get the latest shows is to subscribe to our RSS or iTunes feeds or our newsletter.

For more on Pain check his website and stay tuned for another mix from him in the near future. In the meantime enjoy this musical roadtrip. Much love to Pain for hooking us up and to Mondayjazz for arranging the artwork courtesy of Grape Frogg.

Whether your rippin' loads, cleanin' your house or driven down the freeway. This dude has a knack for selecting the soundtrack while your life rolls on. Real nice catalog PEEP GAME!

Silver Apples-Contact(1969)

This is a great psych album from the sixties that will mess your head up. The Silver Apples are a psychedelic electronic music duo from New York City composed of Simeon Coxe III, who performs as Simeon, on a primitive synthesizer of his own devising (also named The Simeon), and drummer Danny Taylor. The group was active between 1967 and 1969, before reforming in the mid 1990s. These dudes were way ahead of there time and layed the ground work for countless electro rock groups.

Contact is the second album by Silver Apples. The cover and inner artwork generated a lawsuit from Pan Am Airlines. The cover features the Silver Apples in a plane cockpit with drug paraphernalia and the inner artwork showed the band amongst a plane wreckage playing banjos. The lawsuits from Pan Am proved to be the demise of the band and the label KAPP Records, who could not endure the fatal series of lawsuits.

6."I Have Known Love"3:53

It's just a mellow mix of some songs I like. I spent a lot of time trying to keep a consistent mood and make the transitions fluid. Enjoy. Feel free to pass this around/spread the love."
